BOTY Caricom wordt georganiseerd om Bboys/ breakers uit het Caribisch gebied en Zuid Amerika ingang te geven om deel te nemen aan Battle of the Year (BOTY) en hiermee het Caribisch gebied & Zuid Amerika (kortweg Caricom) ‘op de kaart te zetten’.
Caricom dient in deze als verzamelterm ter aanduiding van alle Caribische landen en landen uit Zuid en Midden (Latijns) Amerika en deze term zal verder in deze brief en in verdere communicatie worden gebruikt om het gehele gebied aan te duiden.
Battle of the Year wordt al sedert 1989 georganiseerd en is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot ’s werelds grootste breakdance battle. Een begrip dat niet meer weg te denken is voor Bboys en Bgirls.
Door te participeren in BOTY worden ook groeimogelijkheden bevorderd en kunnen dansers uit Caricom zich ontwikkelen op wereldniveau en nog belangrijker: worden gezien door de wereld. Dit zal de deelname aan andere internationale battles bevorderen.
BOTY Caricom dient als preselectie voor deelname aan de wereldkampioenschappen die jaarlijks in Duitsland plaatsvinden (BOTY international). Meer informatie hierover vinden jullie op www.boty.de
Leuk om te vermelden is dat in 2009 de 20ste editie van BOTY plaatsvindt en wij zijn er zeer trots op om het eerste Caricom land tijdens dit jubileum te kunnen introduceren.
Deelnemers:
Voor BOTY Caricom 2009 zijn 5 groepen uitgenodigd uit de volgende landen.
-Suriname
–Frans Guyana
–Venezuela
–Trinidad & Tobago
–Guatemala (Central America)
Dit zijn de genodigde landen voor 2009, vanwege het huidige animo. Maar wij hopen vanaf 2010 uit te kunnen breiden en nog meer groepen uit meerdere landen te mogen verwelkomen.
BOTY Caricom start in 2009 in Suriname, maar we willen het graag jaarlijks in steeds een ander gastland organiseren, i.s.m. (uw) en/ of lokale organisaties.
Alleen bestaande groepen mogen deelnemen aan BOTY Caricom. Groepen moeten uit 8 personen bestaan. Indien er geen bestaande teams of onvoldoende leden in teams zijn, dan is het noodzakelijk om deze zsm compleet te maken.
Programme BOTY Caricom 2009
The first edition of BOTY CARICOM will take place on August 22, 2009 in NIS - Paramaribo. Throughout the weekend there are also other activities.
On Friday, August 21 is the pre-event, with workshops, lectures, debates and performances take place. And the day after the happening is still not completely over, because Sunday, August 23, there is a cooling down, with meetings and discussion and there may also be space for press conferences.

The schedule of BOTY Caricom is as follows:
The event takes place between 5.00 PM and finishes at 0.30 AM.
From 5.00 PM till 7.00 PM is the entrance. From 7 PM till midnight there will be showcases of the groups and battles. In between there are also performances and presentations of renowned hip-hop artists (national and international). There after, the jury gets in deliberation, and at last the winner of BOTY Caricom will be appointed.
